It's Not Real

How do they make ordinary people interesting?

1. They Create Interesting, Unusual, or Unexpected Situations:
  • They put a bunch of people in a small space to force them to communicated, trying to create conflict/ a fight.
2. Creative Editing:
  • Audio cues (music, voice over).
  • Fake reactions.
  • Manipulation of time & order (they take a reaction/ what someone says and change when they said it/did it).
3. Niggling:
  • A "niggler" is someone who subtly coaches contestants.
  • They may ask leading question for force them to answer a certain way.
  • They make small comments about other contestants/participants.
4. Strategic Casting:
  • The casting director will often look for a verity of different people (male, women, gay, straight, ect.).
  • They do this to try and create conflict/ make a scene to make the show more interesting.
The producers do all these things to make the show seem as though it's real. The truth is that even though they call it "Reality television" it's NOT REAL! On reality shows you will very rarely see people getting along or acting normal. They will film them all days but rearrange and adjust to make the characters act/be a certain way. The show may not be scripted but it sure isn't reality.

The Story of Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood got discovered when she auditioned for American Idol in 2004. She impressed all 4 judges including Simon Cowell who predicted that she would sell more records then anyone in Idol history. Carrie went on to becoming the season 4 American Idol winner.

June 14 2005 she releases her first single “Inside your Heaven” an original song she had written for Idol. During the first week after the song was released there were 170, 000 copies sold and it was #1 on the Billboard hot 100 chart. She later goes on to release one more hit before releasing her first album this single was “Jesus Take the Wheel”. Her first album entitled “Some Hearts” the album wins five Billboard Music Awards in 2006, including Album of Year.

April 5 2006 Carrie joins country singer Kenny Chesney on tour until October. After, she returns to Oklahoma where she then graduates with a degree of mass communications at Northeastern State University. That year she also won 4 awards including Top New Female Vocalist and Single of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2007 Carrie takes home 3 Grammys including Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Jesus, Take the Wheel". During this time she also released her second album “Carnival Ride”.

In April of 2007 the singing sensation begins dating NHL football star for the Dallas Cowboys, none other than quarterback Tony Romo. She also consistently keeps winning awards at many different ceremonies. Sadly her relationship with Romo did not last, but shortly after their breakup she begins dating another well-known celebrity, Chance Crawford. That couple didn’t last for very long. In 2008 she starts dating the Ottawa Senators very own hockey star Mike Fisher.

In 2009 she releases her second album “Play On”, which is another big hit. At the Academy of Country Music Awards Carrie wins Entertainer of the year, this was a big win for Miss Underwood. In December of that year the star is engaged to her hockey star boyfriend Mike Fisher. The lovely couple then got married in 2010.
By 2012 the superstar singer is still on top, releasing her fourth album “Blown Away”.  In 2013 she wins yet another award at the Grammys for best country solo artist.

Over all you can see that Carrie Underwood has/is having a really accomplished career winning many awards and achieving many top hits. Personally I believe she has worked hard for what she earned, starting by winning American Idol as the first country artist ever on the show. She didn't stop there though she continued her singing career becoming a celebrity well-known across North America. She is a great role model and inspiration to kid’s specifically young girls with an interest in being a country singer. She is defiantly one of my favorite singers , some of my favorite songs by her are “Starts With Goodbye” which is on her first album Some Hearts, “Whenever You Remember” also on that album, and a more resent one is “See You Again” which you can find on her fourth album Blown Away.
